Collector Interview: Chris K.

Our next interview comes from Dublin collector Chris, who has over 1500+ albums , organized quite naturally, alphabetically by first name. Chris shares, "I'm Chris from Dublin Ireland, collecting records since 1993, I've 4 turntables in the house, things slowed down with the buying records when the mp3 DJ scene hit as it was obviously much cheaper, but now I'm back in full swing buying albums and tracks by the plenty".
Chris uses our 26 panel A-Z Stencil Record Dividers, as Chris explains, "I have the A to Z dividers in my living room for my albums, a nice present from the girlfriend two birthdays ago".

How does your record collection make you feel?
Proud and accomplished I suppose, I'm a bit of a hoarder by nature so collecting records falls nicely into that as well as helping me wind down.
How long have you been collecting records?
Since 1993, my good mates who have a few years on me, got me into the buying of vinyl, then after buying decks, I realised I had a slight bit of talent for Djing...
Favorite or biggest music genre in your collection:
I've plenty of techno and house upstairs along with some hip hop and trip hop, but down stairs in the living room it's more lounge music like Bonobo, Thievery Corporation, Cinematic Orchestra etc, but I do have some Indie and rock n roll down there too. With the month that is in it, I realised I have a lot of Andrew Weatherall tracks in my collection, sad times.
Best album to listen to when you’ve had a rough week:
Happy Mondays or Stone Roses are good to take your mind off a stressful day.
Last record you purchased:
I've just ordered Caribou new album which is on the way, and The Cinematic Orchestra - " Everyay" arrived yesterday.
What is your beverage of choice when listening to records?
Whiskey (I collect that too)
Where do you hunt for vinyl?
SpinDizzy Records or All City Records in Dublin city are great spots, a few new ones have popped up lately also including Black Wax Records.
Anything else to share?
Living room set up in a Thorens TD160 with a Harman Kardon amp, both from the 1970s, and in the attic I have a set of Technics 1210s with a Vestax mixer.
